Meet a Mom: Pediatric Physical Therapy of Nashville

Meet Kristen, Owner of Pediatric Physical Therapy of Nashville

February 24, 2022

Every few weeks, Macaroni KID Brentwood, Franklin, & Spring Hill will introduce you to an amazing, local mom. Nothing makes us happier than supporting incredible women. I am so excited to have the opportunity to introduce you to some of Middle Tennessee's finest!

This week, I'd love to introduce you to Kristen DeMura, PT, DPT. Kristen is the owner of Pediatric Physical Therapy of Nashville. She delivers physical therapy to children in our area through wellness visits (ages birth-2 years old), physical therapy evaluations and treatment (birth to adolescent), and in-house and on-site visits in the greater Nashville area.

Read on to hear more about Kristen what she loves so much about living in Williamson County - especially in beautiful Arrington!

1. How many kids do you have and how old are they?

Landon (15), Levi (13), Carline (12); married 20 years this year!!

2. What town do you live in/work in? And what is your favorite thing about Williamson County?

I live in Arrington and love the rolling hills and Arrington Vineyards. I love spring and planting lettuce in my garden.

3. What do you like to do for fun with your kids in the Williamson County area? Without your kids?

My kids love to go to SOAR Adventure Tower in Franklin. It’s amazing for core strength, balance, and coordination. We also love to hike at Henry Horton Park and have bonfires in our back yard. I love dining at new places with my husband, and our favorite new place is Chrysalis off Carothers Pkwy in Franklin. The pasta is made from scratch and the food is delicious.

4. Tell me about Pediatric Physical Therapy of Nashville and how it came about. Is Pediatric Physical Therapy of Nashville your full-time job?

I’ve been a pediatric PT for 22 years. I’ve worked in hospitals, outpatient, early intervention, and in the school system. I’ve always wanted to have my own business and deliver amazing PT service to very special children.

One special aspect of my business is that I also treat babies who do not have developmental concerns. I help babies reach their milestones by using my expertise in gross motor development through play sessions. I call these wellness visits. Oftentimes, pediatrician well visits are rushed and parents have questions on how to make tummy time more fun for their baby who is resisting it. I provide tips and tricks for tummy time, rolling, sitting, crawling, and walking. I partner with moms to help encourage them and give them ideas for purposeful play. I explain the concerns of too much time in containers (i.e., swing, bouncy seat, exersaucer) and give them alternate activities.

All of my services are private concierge PT right in the comfort of the child’s home.

5. Where can we buy your products or services?

E-mail me to set up a free phone consultation kristen.demura@gmail.com

6. How do you balance work and life? Or DO YOU? :)

Haha! I write out a sticky note for each weekday listing the activities for the day. It helps me to stay on schedule and focused. Luckily my PT career has no evening or weekend hours and I devote that time to my sweet family.

Tell us your favorite places in Williamson County to:

EAT: I like the brand new MoJo’s tacos in Thompson’s Station.

DRINK: Arrington Vineyards is two miles from home and such a beautiful setting (the kids like to come along and explore and play hide and seek here).

PLAY: Our own back yard - we have a beautiful outdoor space that we’ve spent time making it feel inviting and cozy. We love to cook in our outdoor kitchen, get our hands dirty in the garden, and have bonfires 🔥 It’s a very relaxing.

Thank you, Kristen!
