Is it just me, or do kids grow out of sporting gear even faster than regular kids' clothes and shoes? For example, my son, 6, got his first "big boy" bike last Christmas. While we're hopeful the bike will last him at least a couple of years, the helmet we bought online is already too tight.

We were worried about spending a ton of money on more safety gear when we know he'll grow out of it so quickly, but we also want to ensure what we are getting is good quality and will keep him safe. What to do?

We decided to NOT take a chance shopping online again. We wanted to buy from a REAL, local store where we could look at the product, see the quality, and ensure a proper fit while also saving money. So, we headed to Play it Again Sports ~ Brentwood.

If you have never shopped at Play it Again Sports ~ Brentwood, they are a local buy-sell-trade business that specializes in sports and fitness gear and equipment. Not only can you bring in your gently used sports or fitness gear for cash or trade-in credit, but you can also shop their huge inventory of high-quality, name-brand, gently used bikes, baseball and softball gear, and other sporting and fitness equipment for all ages.

Store associate, Ava, led us to the bike gear section to help us pick out a helmet, as well as a set of knee and elbow pads. I was impressed by the amount of inventory that was available to try on! There was a huge selection of helmets plus a tub full of knee and elbow pads of all sizes.

Ava helped us find a helmet that was just the right size - fitted but with room to grow. She even took the time to show us the proper way that it should fit on my son's head and how to adjust the size as he grows. We also found a great matching set of wrist, elbow, and knee pads that were in like-new condition. Together, the items we found were only $21 before sales tax!

Now that he's all geared up, I can't wait to let my son go bike riding (in safety) around the neighborhood with his friends. And we know that when he grows out of his bike and safety gear, we can go back to Play it Again Sports ~ Brentwood to trade in for the next size up!
