Need a date night out in Brentwood, Franklin, or Spring Hill? Don't we all?

The occasional date nights out are important for parents to connect and focus on each other. Date nights can "enhance your friendship as well as your emotional connectedness," Dianne Grande, Ph.D., a licensed clinical psychologist wrote in a Psychology Today article called "Date Night: Not a Luxury, a Necessity."

"Usually, the challenge for long-term couples is to get out of the routine that they have fallen into and put in some effort to make their lives together more fun and joyful," she writes.

So find a babysitter, schedule a playdate, or recruit a family member or friend to take over kid duties for a few hours this weekend, and plan a great few hours away with your honey. Here are three ideas for creative dates and where to eat afterward in Brentwood, Franklin, & Spring Hill:

1. Take a hike in Brentwood, Franklin & Spring Hill

Find a new trail to explore together by foot, on bike, or even on horseback! Some of my favorite places to get out in nature:

  • Radnor Lake in Brentwood, TN is the perfect spot for an easy stroll around the paved loop, or a more challenging hike through one of the many trails running through the park. The view of the lake is beautiful any time of the year (and perfect for photos ops with your significant other!)
  • Wilkins Branch Mountain Bike Park in Leiper's Fork is a free, public park designed for mountain bikers of all skill levels.
  • Garrison Creek located off of Natchez Trace Parkway in Franklin, TN features a horseback riding trail and two walking trails. There is parking available for horse trailers on location.

After working up an appetite on the trail, stop at one of these great lunch spots:

  • Gray's on Main in Historic Downtown Franklin is a great spot for lunch or dinner. Whatever you do, be sure to order the fried pimento cheese balls as an appetizer. Yum! Their signature cocktails are also top-notch!
  • Grilled Cheeserie is the right choice if you still want cheese, but would prefer a milkshake to a cocktail with your meal.
  • Bishop's is a traditional meat-and-three that also serves Hattie B's hot chicken. If you're new to the greater Nashville area and haven't tried hot chicken yet, this is a great place to start!

2. Create in Brentwood, Franklin, & Spring Hill!

Take a class together in Brentwood, Franklin, and Spring Hill to get those creative juices flowing! In Williamson County, you can find classes at places like:

After creating your masterpiece or learning the waltz, head to one of these Williamson County restaurants, known for their innovative and creative dishes:

  • Local Taco in Brentwood, TN features unique and creative tacos on their menu like the Nashville Hot Chicken taco, Korean BBQ, and Tequila Lime chicken to name a few. Grab a fresh made margarita while you're there!
  • Spring Hill's premier sushi joint is Sushi Thai located just off Main Street. They feature a vast menu of Japanese appetizers, traditional rolls and their house specialities including Lamb Basil, Roasted Duck, and Ka Pao Mussels.
  • If you want a more elegant dining experience, check out Red Pony in Historic Downtown Franklin. Their menu switches out about six times a year, so there's almost always something new to try with every visit.

3. Get out that stress

Life have you both feeling stressed out? Relax together! From exhilarating adventure to couples massages — Brentwood, Franklin, & Spring Hill has it all! Here are a few of our favorites:

  • Take a free trial class at Title Boxing in Cool Springs. Get an amazing work out and a burst of endorphins on the punching bag!
  • Go for an outdoor climb at SOAR Adventure Tower followed up with some mini golf just for fun.
  • If you're looking for something slower paced, try a couple's massage at A Moment's Peace Salon in Franklin.

You'll want a nice relaxed meal in Williamson County after getting all that stress out! Try a restaurant or brewery for a casual, unrushed meal to enjoy together.

  • Hop over to Granite City Cool Springs after your boxing workout or climb. Get a Slider Tower and try one of their many signature brews.
  • Go for some Southern comfort food at Tupelo Honey in Franklin. Try their bone-in chicken or their famous chicken & buttermilk waffles.
  • Head just south of Williamson County to check out Mockingbird Restaurant, another Southern-comfort spot set up in an 1850's farm house.
