Juneteenth, Father's Day, and Lots More Summer Fun in Franklin!

There's lots of fun happening around Franklin, TN the week of June 18-24

By Heather Griffin June 17, 2021

From Juneteenth celebrations all around the city to Father's Day fun activities, Macaroni Kid Franklin presents this week's top things to do in Franklin, Spring Hill, and surrounding areas!

1. Juneteenth Celebrations

There are so many family-friendly Juneteenth celebrations around Franklin, I couldn't pick just one. Downtown Franklin presents its very first Juneteenth Festival combined with a celebration in Pinkerton Park: Juneteenth, "We Stand United", "One Historic Celebration, Two Historic Locations"! Or if you're a little further south, you might want to head to the 5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration in Columbia. And for those of you north of Franklin, consider enjoying Nashville's first ever Juneteenth615 Fireworks at Fort Negley Park.

2. Father's Day around Franklin

There's lots to do with Dad around Franklin this weekend! Take him to see one of his favorite childhood movies, The Goonies, presented free in Maury County Park (bonus points if you can do the "Truffle Shuffle")! If Dad loves jazz, he will love going to Jazz on the Cumberland at Nashville Cumberland Park, June 20th. Check out our events calendar for more fun things to do this Father's Day weekend.

3. Friends Book Sale

Stock up on summer reading at the Williamson County Public Library's Main Branch on Columbia Avenue for their book sale--happening during regular library hours all weekend, June 18-20.

4. Little Sprouts Gardening Class

Your budding gardener (see what I did there?) will love making a recycled dinosaur pot at Riverbend Nurseries this Saturday morning, June 19. The cost is only $5 per child and you must register to attend due to limited capacity. Call (615) 468-2008 to sign up.

5. Move on Mondays

If you're looking for a fun, relaxing way to get out of the house and stretch your legs, consider joining the librarians at John P. Holt Library in Brentwood for a walk around the library with free water and snacks provided for you and your littles. No registration needed... just show up and get moving.

These are just a few of the fun things to do around Franklin this week. Keep checking back as more events are being added every day!
