How to Amaze Your Kids with Baby Yoda Snowflakes and Paper Doll Chains

By Amber St. John Goss, Publisher December 15, 2020

Do your kids still believe in magic? Maybe just a little? If so, here's a way to make sure they keep believing -- because the look on their face when they see these Baby Yoda snowflakes and paper doll chains will tell you that they believe YOU are magic!

Why do we all LOVE Baby Yoda so much? Sure, he's adorable. And mischievous. And playful. And mysterious.

But one of the deepest Star Wars memes takes it a step further, suggesting that the Baby Yoda/Mandalorian dynamic is perhaps the only entirely positive parent/child relationship explored to any depth in the entire Star Wars franchise. I'm not entirely sure I agree with the meme; after all, Leia and Bail Organa clearly had a wonderful relationship, and Owen and Shmi Lars did all they could for Anakin. But it's definitely the most examined childhood seen in live action, and a refreshing contrast to the Skywalker birth father issues.

Without a doubt, though, the kids LOVE having a kid they can love. And they love seeing the Mandalorian taking care of Grogu -- it's a reassuring icon of parental stability in the unstable pandemic world.

Whatever the cause for the cultural obsession, I know for certain that anything Baby Yoda in my household is a hit. So when I saw a Baby Yoda/Mandalorian snowflake cut out by Monte McAllister on The Mandalorian & Star Wars Universe board, I knew I had to get to folding paper!

My first attempt turned out not bad at all. At Monte's suggestion, I used a holepunch for the eyes. Here's the template:

After success with the snowflake, I decided to go freestyle and try a paper doll chain. Here's the template:

So now all you need to do is fold some paper and get to snipping! Your kids will be amazed!
