Veterans Day Events Around Williamson County

Veterans Day, which celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, is coming up and Williamson County has several events planned to honor veterans in the area.

Nolensville Veterans Day Parade
November 10 - 11 a.m.

Nolensville honors its veterans with a Veterans Day Parade on November 10.

Boots for Troops 5K and VetFest - Franklin
November 10 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Harlinsdale Farm, 239 Franklin Road, Franklin
Benefiting the families of fallen military and veterans through Medals of Honor. The BOOTS FOR TROOPS: 5K Ruck/Walk/Run is the perfect opportunity to show your patriotism, as well as your love and support for those who have or continue to serve in our Armed Forces. Additionally, your participation helps to fund our ongoing “Medals of Honor” programs that honor the fallen and their families. So… dig out and lace up a pair of combat boots, work boots, or running shoes and support our warriors in uniform! Stay after the 5K for the VetLinx, VetFest and enjoy music, food trucks, vendor tents, family area and much more! VetFest runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Military Appreciation Day at the Nashville Zoo
November 11 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Nashville Zoo at Grassmere

Nashville Zoo and Regions Bank invite active military personnel, military veterans and their immediate families to receive free admission during Military Appreciation Day on Sunday, November 11. Military Appreciation Day is offered in gratitude for the commitment, bravery and sacrifices made by those who serve our country. In addition to regular Zoo activities, a special children’s fun zone will be set up on Festival Field with bounce houses, games and activities, as well as free rides on the Wild Animal Carousel and Wilderness Express Train. The Grassmere Historic Home will be open to visitors on this day. A collection of military items will be on display downstairs and on the back porch of the house. Visitors must show their military ID, veteran organization ID, discharge papers or other official military identification to be given free admission. If not accompanied by military personnel, dependents must have official dependent ID cards to receive the discounted admission. Please note: The normal parking fee  will still apply.

Spring Hill Veterans Day Service
November 11 - 2 p.m.
Spring Hill Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 5239 Main St, Spring Hill
Residents are invited to a special service honoring the Veterans of the United States of America where special recognition will be given to all veterans of foreign wars and peacetime. The keynote speaker this year will be Lt. Col. Brooke C. Grubb, who has devoted 30 years to defending our freedoms. Lt. Col. Grubb is the Commander of the 30th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion in Tullahoma, TN. During his time at the Battalion Headquarters he has been deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel and was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade. He is also currently serving as Assistant District Attorney General and has done so for more than 19 years in the 17th Judicial District. Other guest speakers will include Spring Hill Mayor, Rick Graham and Williamson County Mayor, Rogers Anderson. Special music will be provided by the vocal group Harmonix, the Spring Hill Cello Ensemble and vocalist Neena Ray Bilbo. We hope to see everyone there!

Franklin Veterans Day Parade
November 12 - 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The City of Franklin will remember and honor all veterans at its Veterans Day Parade being held in Downtown Franklin on November 12th at 11 a.m. The parade is a joint effort of the City and local radio station WAKM AM-950. The parade route travels down Main Street, from Five Points to Second Avenue. JROTC units and/or marching bands from Williamson County high schools will participate. The Franklin Special School District will also send a large group of students to show their appreciation to veterans. The Parade begins promptly at 11:00 a.m. at West Main and Fifth Avenue. Prior to the parade, a reception will be held at the Williamson County Archives from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. for local veterans and their families.
